Cash Register Express Version 10 is Out

I am back from the PC America Distributors' conference and I have great news.

You need to get this upgrade. I can truly say there is a feature here for everyone. Not only are there tons of new goodies in CRE/RPE but you will know how to use it because there is a new manual and a help screens on each feature. This means the support lines won't be clogged with simple questions and when you really need them you'll get through right away!

The actual release won't be out until Tuesday May 18th, but the new manual is on our download page. Below are just some of the newest features. Restaurant and retail alike will find a use for all features but the ones that are restaurant specific are noted. On the bottom is a list of future additions to Cash Register Express / Restaurant Pro Express. All will be added in the next year just so you know the extreme value of getting a support contract (which includes upgrades).

I want to thank all of you for being the best customer base a company can wish for. International Point of Sale has grown immensely in the past 12 months. Sales have gone up 30% in each of the past 6 months. We appreciate the positive word of mouth and because of you we are one of the top CRE/RPE distributor in the world.

Add inventory on the fly – If a product is not entered, the cashier can enter it on the fly. Set a default description, price, vendor and department in advance.

RPE: Split checks easily – Touch item on one check, touch the check to move it to. Split evenly and by guest, print receipt and cash out separately for each split check.

Logo on receipt – Print logo on top of the receipt. For Epson receipt printers. Logo can be uploaded to the printer using the Epson logo utility.

RPE: New table diagram screen – Buttons & screens for takeout, delivery & open tabs. Start tabs using the customers name. Delivery orders require customer selection.

New employee maintenance screen – Easy to use, touch-screen ready interface. New fields to store personal info on employees.

Advanced customer loyalty – Customize different loyalty plans for different customers. Incentives can auto-fire at end of transaction.

Two new mix n' match types – Bulk price, changes the price of the items in the group when you sell the correct amount. Discount %, gives x% off all items in the group.

RPE: Display customers last order – See what a specific customer ordered the last time they purchased from your restaurant. Restaurants that deliver will find this extremely useful.

Print item notes for prior invoice – Print the inventory notes (from inventory maintenance) for one of more items from a prior invoice. Example of use: Farmers market can print instructions on how to care for a plant purchased by a customer.

Global price changes – Make changes to prices in batches, as opposed to one item at a time as in prior versions. Batches can be all items, all items in one department or a list of selected items. You can also set a sale price, with an expiration date, as in previous versions.

Area tax rates – Different tax rates can be assigned for different customers. This allows stores that do mail order deliveries to charge the customer's local tax rate (where applicable), as well as other special tax situations.

Touch screen configuration – Items can now be visible or invisible on the touch screen, as opposed to prior versions which only allowed this for departments. This allows for more flexible menu configuration, and allows you to display pre-configured daiuly specials in seconds.

PC Charge dual merchant accounts – Option to use two merchant accounts with PC Charge through CRE and RPE. Merchants who process an equal amount of swiped and keyed transactions can save on processing rates using this feature with two merchant accounts.

Check ID with age verification – Two levels of checking ID (ex: 18 for tobacco, 21 for liquor). Reminds cashier to check ID for sales of these items. Require a birth date to be typed, or a license to be swiped, to verify age.

Advanced coupon redemption – Coupons can be customized with various restrictions. Expiration date so coupons can not be redeemed late. Day and time restrictions, so coupons can only be used during non-busy hours. Specify which items, departments and categories are included or excluded.

RPE: Transfer/combine check, server transfer – Transfer a check from one table to another. Combine two checks into one. Transfer a check from one server to another (no longer tied into one button). Allows for quick and easy changes to checks in a restuaruant.

Enterprise Edition – Real Time Multi-Site – CRE and RPE can be run real time over a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for multiple stores. This is the only real time multi-site point of sale system in the price range, and one of the only true real time systems on the market.

Integrated "F1" Quick-Help – Fully updated, integrated "F1" help section. View the help at any time to see a detailed description of the feature you are using. Our help screens now include an overview of the screen, details of how to get around, a description of each field and feature, and "How do I…?" tutorials that walk you through how to use these features.

Metrologic Scanner/Scale MS2020 – New scanner/scale with a single serial cable interface. Metrologic's new scale is extremely aggressive, and its two independent scanning modules lend to higher POS reliablility.

Verifone Everest Plus – Payment terminal for use in multi-lane stores. The Everest Plus uses a single serial connection, and supports credit, debit and EBT with pin numbers. The Everest Plus should be purchased from International Point of Sale (who will inject the terminal with programming), and CoCard will inject the terminal with encryption when you use their processing.)

Weightronics NCI – 6720 Weight Scale – A scale that supports up to 60 pounds in weight. Other supported models can weigh in thousandths of a pound. The NCI-6720 uses a single serial cable interface.
